SUPPORT FRIENDS OF SPOIL ISLANDS

We are a Florida nonprofit Citizen Support Organization of Volunteers dedicated to the preservation, restoration and enhancement of the Indian River Lagoon Aquatic Preserve spoil islands and educating others about the importance of the spoil islands as valuable educational, recreational and conservation resources.

DONATE

Are you interested in assisting the mission of Friends of the Spoil Islands and supporting the Indian River Lagoon Aquatic Preserves’ dynamic estuary environment?  One easy way is with a donation.  FOSI is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, your donations are greatly appreciated.  Plus, they are especially valuable with grant applications requiring matching funds!

You do not need to be a member to show your support.

VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are vital in the preservation/restoration of our Islands and Preserves.  We are seeking individuals to assist with specific projects.  Review FOSI’s calendar of events and/or contact our Coordinator John at jbvbfl@gmail.com to sign up for an event near you.  A typical volunteer opportunity begins at 9:30am.  After a leisurely boat ride the work entails 2-3 hours on a deserted island.  FOSI provides water and snacks.  Remember to dress for the occasion!

ADOPT AN ISLAND

The Adopt-A-Spoil Island project allows groups the ability to initiate and maintain projects on a spoil island.  The base requirement is to conduct four cleanups per year and submit a simple report to DEP Indian River Lagoon Aquatic Preserves Field office.  Additional island projects will be considered by IRLAP’s staff.  Interested in adopting a spoil island? Contact the IRLAP Field office at (772) 429-2995 or visit:
